What to do when baby’s labia are red and swollen

The redness and swelling of the baby’s labia is considered to be related to the irritation of the local mucous membrane by urine and feces. The main symptom is redness and swelling of the local skin, often accompanied by pain. It is recommended that the child can be treated with topical comfrey oil. Normally, do not use diapers as much as possible. The child should clean up promptly after urinating and defecating. A wet towel should also be used to wipe the skin after handling the stool to avoid continued irritation of the skin mucosa by fecal residues. If necessary, erythromycin ointment can be applied.
