Do I need to be sterilized and isolated if I have red eye?

Epidemic conjunctivitis occurs in the spring and summer months and is highly contagious. The patient’s lid conjunctiva and bulbar conjunctiva of one or both eyes are significantly congested with pain, tearing, itching and discharge. Because of the red appearance of the eyes, the disease is commonly known as “pink eye”. The disease is mainly caused by infection with adenovirus, enterovirus and pneumococcus. A small number of patients can also be infected with gonococcus or meningococcus due to a history of unclean sexual contact. ”Red eye”, known as “Tian Xing Red Eye” in Chinese medicine. The review of the Yao letter said: “the sky line red eye, the time gas is popular, the three jiao floating dry, tears astringent eye pain, or pepper sores sand rub, or fear of heat and shyness, or one eye and pass two eyes, or seven days and since the clearing, often er I feel.” Describes the symptoms of the disease and the characteristics of the transformation. The Silver Sea Essence emphasizes its contagiousness: “The heavenly line of red eyes, …… one person who harms the eyes spreads to a family, regardless of size are spread once.” Transmission route: It is mainly spread through contact with hands, towels, washbasins, water sources and other public objects contaminated by the secretions of the affected eyes. Clinical outbreaks are most common in families. It is not contagious in the air. Prevention and treatment: The patient’s used toiletries must be isolated and disinfected, do not share a towel with the patient, use flowing water when scrubbing the towel, and do not advocate the use of basins. Patients should wash their hands carefully before and after eye drops. Washing hands before eye drops is to prevent re-infection, and washing hands after eye drops is to stop “red eye” from infecting others. Some patients have one sick eye and one normal eye, as a preventive medicine, you should first give the normal eye drops, then the affected eye drops, and finally wash your hands to prevent cross-infection, do not reverse the order of priority. When administering eye drops, the head of the dropper should not touch the eyelashes and cornea to avoid reflexive blinking, which makes it difficult for the drops to enter the conjunctival sac, and also to prevent bacteria on the eyelashes from contaminating the drops. If you need to use more than two kinds of eye drops, do not put them in at the same time to prevent them from diluting each other and reducing their efficacy. If it has deteriorated, it should be discarded. If it is a suspension, it should be shaken well before use. At the same time, the cause of the disease should be actively removed: local drops of sensitive antibiotics and (or) antiviral eye drops should be used once every 1~2 hours during the acute period, and after the condition improves, the number of drops can be gradually reduced, and eye ointment can be applied before bedtime to play a continuous therapeutic role. In hospitals or at home, sensitive drugs can be added to physiological saline for ultrasonic nebulization of the conjunctival sac once or twice a day to accelerate the improvement. In severe cases, systemic antibiotics and/or antivirals are required.
