Patients with acute myocardial infarction are identified as being at high risk if they have any of the following.
Age >70 years.
Anterior wall myocardial infarction.
Multi-site myocardial infarction (meaning more than two sites).
Hemodynamic instability such as hypotension, sinus tachycardia, severe ventricular arrhythmias, rapid atrial fibrillation, pulmonary oedema or cardiogenic shock.
Left and right bundle branch block arising from an acute myocardial infarction.
Previous history of myocardial infarction.
Patients with comorbid diabetes and uncontrolled hypertension.
