Treatment of stubborn constipation drugs commonly used are volumetric laxatives such as polycarbophil calcium, osmotic laxatives such as lactulose, stimulant laxatives such as bisacodyl, gastrointestinal stimulants such as mosapride and so on.
1. Volumetric laxatives: can increase the water content in the feces as well as increase the volume of feces so as to have a laxative effect, such as calcium polycarbophil, sodium sulfate, methylcellulose and so on.
2. osmotic laxatives: can make the intestinal environment in hypertonic state, so that the volume of feces increase, stimulate gastrointestinal peristalsis, to treat constipation, such as lactulose, polyethylene glycol, mannitol, magnesium sulfate and so on.
3. Stimulating laxatives: also called contact laxatives, can stimulate intestinal peristalsis to promote fecal excretion, such as bisacodyl, castor oil and so on.
4. Gastrointestinal stimulants: act on the smooth muscle, increase intestinal power, such as mosapride, prucalopride, domperidone and so on.
All of the above drugs need to be applied under the guidance of a doctor. If stubborn constipation occurs, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible, under the guidance of the doctor to give the appropriate treatment.
