What are the causes of breast pain during breastfeeding?

Acute mastitis is often caused by breastfeeding mothers due to untimely emptying of milk and nipple damage. It often occurs 3 to 4 weeks after delivery, with first-time mothers being the most common, and manifests as red, swollen, hot and painful breasts on the affected side. In severe cases, symptoms such as chills, high fever, rapid pulse and even abscesses may form. If any of these conditions occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
