Saturated saline is not a treatment for plantar warts. Treatment of plantar warts requires medication such as salicylic acid, or physical therapy. Saturated salt water is not a scientific treatment for plantar warts and may have the opposite effect. Treatment of plantar warts is usually done using topical medications such as salicylic acid, 5% fluorouracil ointment, 5% imiquimod ointment, and injections such as pindamycin to the root of the wart. In addition, physical therapy can be performed, such as smaller plantar warts can be removed by laser and electrocoagulation. Alternatively, treatments such as liquid nitrogen cryotherapy can be performed.
