A halo nevus is a halo-shaped pigment loss spot around a pigmented nevus. The histopathology of halo nevus is consistent with the manifestation of vitiligo lesions, and also has the same immune damage mechanism with the development of vitiligo, therefore, most scholars believe that halo nevus is a special manifestation of vitiligo. Most of the halo nevi occur several months to years after the occurrence of the central pigmented nevus will disappear, and the color of the nevus will gradually become lighter until the pigment is completely gone and it is the same color as the surrounding hypopigmented spots. The occurrence and development of halo nevus is a complex process of pathological immune reaction, and some patients can have vitiligo damage in other parts of the body soon after the occurrence of halo nevus. Therefore, halo nevus should be treated actively after occurrence, usually by surgical excision or laser cautery. For the ring-shaped pigment loss spot around the halo nevus, it can be treated with vitiligo medication.
