Do I need routine percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for unstable angina?

Not necessarily.
There are two treatment strategies for patients with unstable angina: ‘early conservative treatment’ and ‘early invasive treatment’. The decision to proceed with early invasive therapy (i.e. PCI) should be based on the patient’s risk stratification, with low-risk patients choosing early conservative pharmacological treatment and moderate-risk and high-risk patients receiving early invasive therapy.
