Dementia with Lewy bodies is a type of dementia, an irreversible neurodegenerative disease that is mostly second only to Alzheimer’s disease in prevalence. Common symptoms of dementia with Lewy bodies include visual hallucinations, fluctuating cognitive impairment, and Parkinson’s syndrome manifestations such as slow movements and limb stiffness. The disease has a poor prognosis and treatment can only be symptomatic to mitigate the progression of the disease.
