The Achilles tendon is the strongest tendon in the human body and is also known as the “big tendon” by the people. The Achilles tendon rupture is a common injury in sports. Patients suddenly feel pain in the Achilles tendon at the time of injury, and have a feeling of being hit by a blow to the Achilles tendon, or being hit by a stone, etc. Some patients feel like being kicked at the Achilles tendon when the Achilles tendon is ruptured. Most of the patients can feel the “pop” sound at the time of injury or others can hear it, and then they can’t lift the heel or have difficulty walking with the loss of ankle strength, and there is obvious limping. There are two types of Achilles tendon rupture: acute Achilles tendon rupture and old Achilles tendon rupture. There are two types of treatment for acute Achilles tendon rupture: one is emergency surgery, preferably within 7 days after the injury; the other is conservative treatment, i.e. plaster immobilization, but surgery is recommended for rupture at the lower Achilles tendon rupture point or at the lower stop of the Achilles tendon. For old Achilles tendon rupture, if the function is limited (weakness in heel lifting), surgery is usually required, which is usually required more than 3 months after the injury, because the scar hardening should be mature before the surgery.
