How long do you live with a heart bypass?

How long one can survive after cardiac bypass surgery is related to one’s own condition, postoperative care and other factors, some of which can lead to long-term survival, but one may die within a few years after surgery. Cardiac bypass grafting refers to coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, and the postoperative prognosis is mainly related to whether or not one adheres to the medication for secondary prevention of coronary heart disease. If you follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized medication after surgery, commonly used drugs include aspirin and clopidogrel; low-salt and low-fat diet, avoiding pickled and fried foods; quit smoking and drinking; and regular follow-up, you will have a higher rate of vascular patency, a lower incidence of ischemic events, and better improvement in cardiac function after surgery, and you can survive for a long time. However, if you do not pay attention to prevention after surgery, do not take medication regularly, or maintain a poor lifestyle, the risk of postoperative vascular blockage is high, and it is easy to induce infarction, heart failure, and even lead to death. Therefore, it is not certain how long one can live after heart bypass surgery, but in order to prolong the survival time, it is recommended to have active and standardized treatment after surgery.
