The most obvious symptom of a fungal infection of the fingers is localized itching, most often at the fingertips, accompanied by peeling and flaking of the fingers, and in some cases, blisters and even localized ulceration, oozing, and even erosion. When the fingernails are infected with fungus, some of the symptoms of gray nails may appear, such as thickening of the nails, graying or even falling off, and nail fungus. When the fungal infection is prolonged, the hands can become noticeably dry, rough and even have a thickened cuticle. The treatment is mainly based on some topical antifungal drugs, such as terbinafine hydrochloride ointment, fluconazole ointment, etc. Sometimes oral antifungal drugs are also required.
