Children with occult spina bifida bedwetting should be perfected as early as possible lumbosacral spine MRI examination, clear spinal cord involved segments, timely surgical treatment. Occult spina bifida is the most common type of occult vertebral canal closure insufficiency, most commonly seen in the lumbosacral region, one or several vertebrae of the vertebral plate is not fully closed, and the contents of the vertebral canal is not inflated. Symptoms of bedwetting in occult spina bifida may be due to damage to the cauda equina of the spinal cord due to, for example, the presence of a spinal cord embolus, which in turn leads to urinary incontinence. Bedwetting in children with occult spina bifida requires a urologic examination, such as a urinary ultrasound and measurement of residual urine in the bladder, to determine if the child is indeed incontinent. In addition, an MRI should be done to check the involvement of the spinal cord and nerves, and if spinal embolism is present and symptoms are present, aggressive surgical treatment is needed.
