Peripheral vertigo usually refers to vestibular function lesions that make patients feel vertigo, which may be accompanied by frequent vomiting, fear to get up and open eyes, inability to stand, and easy to fall. Patients should go to the hospital for examination and treatment, and the common causes include otoliths, Meniere’s disease, etc. 1. otoliths: also called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, often with sudden onset, manifesting as vertigo, nystagmus, nausea, vomiting, and may be accompanied by depression, insomnia, etc. The diagnosis should be confirmed by Dix-Hallpike dislocation test and vestibular function examination, and the first choice is to reset the vestibular function, and vestibular inhibitors can also be used for treatment. 2, Meniere’s disease: The main manifestations are vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus and ear stuffiness, which may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, pallor, cold sweat, decreased blood pressure, delayed pulse and other symptoms of autonomic dysfunction during vertigo attacks. Immunological examination, CT of temporal bone and magnetic resonance examination of membrane vagus are recommended. Vasodilators can be used to control or prevent vertigo attacks, diuretics can be used to reduce membrane vagus edema, and hormone medication can also be applied. If the above methods have no obvious effect, further surgery can be performed. 3. Labyrinthitis: Due to virus invasion, the patient’s inner ear membrane is edematous and inflamed, which spreads the whole inner ear labyrinth in serious cases, leading to vertigo, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. Patients should take antibiotics and glucocorticoids under the guidance of professional doctors to control the infection and improve the symptoms. Patients with vertigo should ensure rest in general and avoid staying up late and overworking. Pay attention to a light and low-salt diet to avoid sodium metabolism disorders aggravating vertigo attacks, and also pay attention to avoid strenuous exercise, heavy smoking and drinking, maintain an optimistic attitude and regular review.
