To observe your baby’s jaundice at home, look mainly at the color of your child’s skin. The first parts of a newborn baby to develop jaundice are the face and the sclera of the eyes, so you can see if the color of the face is the same as the color of other parts of the body, arms, etc. If the color is yellow, the baby is jaundiced and the jaundice will gradually get worse, usually the fifth day is the heaviest. Observing the severity of jaundice in babies is also a matter of observing the order in which it occurs, first appearing after the face, followed by the beginning of yellowing of the chest, then the abdomen, lower limbs, and finally the soles of the feet. If the baby’s limbs, hands and feet are already yellowish, it means that the bilirubin is already heavy, and timely intervention is needed. Jaundice is one of the most common conditions in the newborn period, some are physiological and some are pathological jaundice. So moms and dads should pay attention, especially to the changes in the jaundice of their little ones within a week, for timely treatment and examination.
