Milk rash, also known as infantile eczema, can be dealt with through general treatment and medication.
1. General treatment: there is no radical cure for infantile eczema, and the main focus is to alleviate or eliminate clinical symptoms. Infants should be kept away from and avoided contact with suspected allergens, bathed regularly, kept clean, often changed clothes, pillowcases, and regularly washed baby’s toys.
2. Medication: Glucocorticosteroids are the first line of treatment for eczema in infants, and generally weak glucocorticosteroids, such as dieldrin and hydrocortisone, play an anti-inflammatory role. For thin, sensitive skin areas, infants older than 1 year can use topical application of a calcium-modulated neural phosphatase inhibitor such as pimecrolimus.
If an infant suffers from eczema, he or she should be taken to a doctor for standardized treatment under medical supervision.
