Is scaling for aesthetic reasons?

Tartar is the plaque and soft tartar that has been or is being calcified on the tooth surface, and its formation is affected by the body’s metabolism, saliva composition, flow, food, tooth alignment, oral hygiene and other factors. Once tartar is formed, it is not easy to fall off, because tartar is hard and rough surface is more likely to make plaque stay and stimulate gum inflammation. Scaling is not just for aesthetic purposes, it is the first step in periodontal treatment. The main purpose of scaling is to remove plaque and tartar from the gingival margin, reduce inflammation of the gums, and lay the foundation for further treatment. It is also the primary means of oral health care.
