A supracondylar fracture of the humerus is a fracture of the distal humerus above the medial and lateral condyles. They are most common in children and account for approximately 3% to 7% of all pediatric extremity fractures.
Supracondylar fractures of the humerus are the most common paediatric elbow fracture and are likely to be neurovascular and should be promptly assessed and orthopaedic treatment administered.
