What are the common problems of labia minora adhesions?

Labia minora adhesion is a common vulvar disease in infants and young children, manifested by adhesion of labia minora at the midline, in which a light gray membrane is visible, and urine can flow out from the small hole on it, mostly from 3 months to infants. A. Causes Mostly caused by acquired factors, improper care of vulva is the main triggering factor. For example, diapers or diapers are not changed in time, the vulva is not dried after urination or when changing diapers, and the vulva is washed too many times without being dried, resulting in high humidity in the vulva, which can easily lead to infection; wiping from the back to the front after a bowel movement, resulting in the vulva being contaminated by stool; those who wear crotch pants and sit on the floor or unclean places at will are easily contaminated. The low level of estrogen in young girls and the thin and tender epithelium of labia minora are the basis for the development of labia minora adhesions. Most of the children have no clinical symptoms and are only found when parents wash their vulva or during routine physical examination; some children have abnormal urination: such as thin urine line, deviation of urine flow, bifurcation of urine line, residual urine, and some of them may have symptoms such as frequent and urgent urination; some of them have red vulva and itchy vulva; according to the adhesion site, it can be shown as: upper labia minora adhesion, lower labia minora adhesion, and complete labia minora adhesion. adhesions. If partial adhesions or complete adhesions do not last long, parents can be instructed to take proper care of the vulva, gently pull the labia majora and labia minora to both sides with fingers, and apply erythromycin ointment, etc., and some of them can be separated successfully. 2.Surgical separation Under local anesthesia or general anesthesia, surgical forceps can be applied to perform blunt separation from the midline, and erythromycin ointment can be applied for a week after surgery to recover completely, with less pain and better results. At present, this kind of surgery is performed in a small operating room in our hospital, and it is necessary to book the surgery time in advance, but no hospitalization is needed, and the surgery can be completed on the same day. 3.Post-operative care Attention should be paid to the cleanliness of vulva, washing the vulva 1-2 times a day, need to open the labia majora and minora for cleaning, wipe dry after cleaning, apply ointment, ointment needs to be applied to the middle of the separated labia minora, apply 3-4 times a day, one week outpatient follow-up.
