What are the diagnostic criteria for trigeminal neuralgia?

  Usually there are no positive signs in the neurological examination of trigeminal neuralgia, and the diagnosis needs to be made based on typical clinical features: 1. Pain site: occurs within the distribution area of the trigeminal nerve on one side of the face, such as the lower jaw, cheek, and forehead.  2. Nature of pain: pain is intense, lightning-like, knife-like or tearing-like.  3. Duration: each attack is brief, usually relieved after a few seconds to a few minutes. The intervals are completely normal.  4.Pain triggering: often caused by slight facial activities such as talking, brushing teeth, washing face, chewing, swallowing, etc.  5.Medication: ever medication is effective or short-term relief.
