Usually there are no positive signs in the neurological examination of trigeminal neuralgia, and the diagnosis needs to be made based on typical clinical features: 1. Pain site: occurs within the distribution area of the trigeminal nerve on one side of the face, such as the lower jaw, cheek, and forehead. 2. Nature of pain: pain is intense, lightning-like, knife-like or tearing-like. 3. Duration: each attack is brief, usually relieved after a few seconds to a few minutes. The intervals are completely normal. 4.Pain triggering: often caused by slight facial activities such as talking, brushing teeth, washing face, chewing, swallowing, etc. 5.Medication: ever medication is effective or short-term relief.
