Visual fatigue and refractive errors common in white-collar populations

With the popularity of modern office software, white-collar workers often live in air-conditioned rooms with dry air, face computers for a long time, use eyes at close range, face the radiation of monitors; heavy work makes the eyes always in a state of exhaustion, resulting in visual fatigue. Visual fatigue is currently a common group of fatigue syndrome manifestations in ophthalmology clinics rather than a disease. Patients’ accounts are diverse, commonly including unsustainable close work, blurred vision, double vision, overlapping word lines, text jumping, pain around the eyes and orbits, dry eyes, tearing, photophobia, etc., and in severe cases, headache, nausea and difficulty in opening eyes. The key to finding the cause of visual fatigue and treating the cause is to relieve visual fatigue is to remove the cause of visual fatigue. For example, pay attention to eye hygiene, reduce prolonged close eye use, treat dry eyes, and correct refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism) in a timely and correct manner. In order to see the target clearly, patients with refractive error often need to use a mismatched adjustment force than the normal eye, which will lead to the occurrence of visual fatigue over time. Not only are adult refractive error patients less frequent and less active than adolescent patients in terms of optometry, but the importance of prescription lenses has also decreased considerably. It is important to note that although prescription glasses are the first choice for eliminating refractive error-induced visual fatigue, they must be accurately examined. If the corrective glasses worn are not suitable, such as overcorrection and undercorrection of glasses, it will also trigger visual fatigue.
