The quality of decoction of Chinese medicine directly affects the clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine. The Qing Dynasty medical scientist Xu Lingtai said, “Although the drug is fine, but the decoction method is out of order, the drug will be invalid.” This shows the influence of decoction on the clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine. To ensure the quality of decoction, the following points must be mastered: First, the amount of water: generally add drinking water to more than 2 centimeters above the surface of the medicine, such as soaking loose herbs more, then add more water in the right amount, the herbs downward pressure, to ensure that all the tablets fully infiltrated. Second, soaking time: generally about 1 hour is appropriate. Third, the decoction fire: cook with martial fire (high fire) until boiling and then change to civil fire (low fire). Decoction times: As the ancients said, “a decoction to get its nature, two decoctions to get its taste”, in general, Chinese medicine should be decocted twice, which is customarily called “first decoction, second decoction”, and the second decoction is called “first juice, second juice The second decoction is called “head juice and second juice” respectively. 5. Decoction time: for antiepidemic medicine (cold medicine), the first decoction is 15-20 minutes after boiling, and the second decoction is 10-15 minutes after boiling; for tonics (except antiepidemic medicine), the first and second decoctions are 25-30 minutes after boiling, and the liquid from the second decoction is mixed and taken in two doses. The first decoction is made in a small pot with appropriate amount of water and heated to boiling for about 30 minutes. After decoction: Put in the herbs that should be decocted afterwards 5 minutes before the completion of the first decoction. Decoction: Put the herbs to be decocted into the cloth bag for decoction, and decoct them with other drugs. Melting: Put all the herbs to be melted (animal gums such as gum, deer horn gum, tortoise shell gum, turtle shell gum, etc.) into a suitable size and heatable vessel, add appropriate amount of clean water or yellow wine, soak the gum after it is softened and steam it under water until it is completely melted, and take appropriate amount with the herbs by spoon each time when taking the herbs. Swallowing: e.g. Zihecha powder, Panax notoginseng powder, Chuanbei powder, etc. should be taken in soup every time when taking Chinese medicine, or in the morning on an empty stomach. Take it in solution: Use the decocted juice (or boiling water) to stir the solution and then take it. Separate decoction: such as ginseng, wormwood, maple, etc., should be decocted separately and mixed with the juice.
