Can a normal cat bite get rabies?

Normal cat bites may get rabies. Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by the rabies virus that mainly attacks the central nervous system, and is a zoonotic and wildlife infectious disease. Rabies is mainly transmitted to humans by the saliva of diseased animals by way of bites. Once the rabies virus occurs in humans, the morbidity and mortality rate is high, almost 100%. In nature, rabies virus is mainly found in wild animals such as wolves, bats and foxes, while in domesticated animals, dogs and cats may also contain rabies virus and may have rabies attacks. Therefore, normal cat bites require timely rabies vaccination after a person. In daily life, people should avoid excessive contact with animals with viral infections, such as dogs and cats, especially the pet-owning population.
