What to do about multi-drug resistant bacterial infections

Multi-resistant bacteria are bacteria that are resistant to three different classes of antimicrobial drugs, mostly related to the irrational use of antibiotics, and are a consequence of antibiotic abuse. When multi-drug resistant bacteria infection occurs, the following measures can be taken: 1. Select drugs according to the results of the drug sensitivity test, or a combination of relatively sensitive antibiotics. If no drug sensitivity test is done, try to use broad-spectrum antibiotics to achieve wide coverage. Especially in the case of life-threatening severe infections, carbapenem antibiotics should be considered first, and when the condition improves, then reduce the intensity of treatment and follow the descending staircase treatment; 2. Isolation. The purpose of isolation is mainly to avoid cross-contamination; 3. Apply immunity-enhancing drugs, such as thymidine and transfer factor; 4. Enhance nutrition, improve immunity and symptomatic support treatment.
