There are normal phenomenon and abnormal phenomenon of calf swelling after metatarsal fracture activities, normal phenomenon has fracture has not yet healed, soft tissue injury, etc., abnormal phenomenon may be the lower extremity deep vein thrombosis.
1. The fracture has not yet healed: early after the metatarsal fracture, you should avoid lower limb movement, and use plaster external fixation or ankle support to assist braking, mainly to avoid aggravating the fracture injury, and is conducive to the reduction of swelling. If the fracture is not completely healed, walking on the ground, the fracture end is stimulated, causing edema, will lead to calf swelling, which is a normal phenomenon.
2. Soft tissue injury: metatarsal fracture usually occurs under the effect of strong violence such as strenuous exercise, car accident, etc., mostly accompanied by the surrounding small blood vessels, muscles, tendons and other soft tissue injuries. If the activity is too early, the injured soft tissues will be pulled and compressed again, which will also cause tissue edema, resulting in swelling of the calf, which is a normal phenomenon.
3. Lower extremity deep vein thrombosis: due to trauma caused by blood vessel wall damage, blood abnormal agglutination, the formation of lower extremity venous thrombosis, blood circulation is impeded, can appear in the lower extremity swelling, is an abnormal phenomenon.
If the swelling of the lower leg occurs after the activity of talus fracture, if the swelling continues without relief, it is recommended to consult the doctor in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
