What is the difference between cerebral vascular malformation and cerebral hemangioma?

1.Is it easy to confuse cerebrovascular malformation with cerebral hemangioma? How do they differ in terms of mechanism of occurrence and symptoms? Cerebral vascular malformation is an abnormal proliferation of blood vessels, in other words, the number or structure of blood vessels is abnormal. Hemangioma is an abnormality in the wall of the blood vessel itself, causing it to protrude outward and form balloon-like changes. The mechanism of occurrence is the effect of the blood vessel itself. Both can have symptoms of rupture of blood vessels causing bleeding. However, arteriovenous malformations are associated with epilepsy or throbbing. Hemangioma is usually an extensive bleeding of brain tissue. 2. Are cerebrovascular malformations more likely to occur in combination with cerebral hemangiomas? Are cerebrovascular malformations more likely to lead to hemangioma? It can occur at the same time. There is no direct correlation, but they can occur together. 3.Can cerebral angiography distinguish vascular malformation from hemangioma? Yes. They have different characteristics on angiography. Vascular malformations often appear as malformed arteries and veins, often with draining veins and supplying arteries, one or more of which supply blood. Aneurysms, on the other hand, show cystic dilatation of the artery outward, sometimes irregularly. 4.Can patients with cerebrovascular malformation who have cerebral hemangioma be treated together with vascular intervention? Will it be more difficult? There are such cases, but it is significantly more difficult and risky. Therefore, surgery is recommended to treat both vascular malformation and aneurysm. 5.Can Gamma Knife treat cerebral vascular malformation and cerebral hemangioma at the same time? Generally, only arteriovenous malformations are treated, and the effect of Gamma Knife in treating cerebral hemangioma is not good. Because the arteriovenous malformation is often focal changes, more suitable for gamma knife treatment.
