Gamma Knife for Cerebrovascular Malformations

Cerebrovascular malformations are the best indication for Gamma Knife. The literature reports that the rate of complete occlusion of diseased vessels is 30-50% after 1 year of treatment and 72%-90% at 2 years. The key to treatment is the volume of the lesion; small lesions are more effective and large lesions are less effective. For lesions larger than 3 cm in diameter, better results have not been obtained, and staged gamma knife treatment for them is advocated abroad. Endovascular embolization combined with gamma knife can treat some larger and surgically difficult cerebrovascular malformations.
