Does the absence of stereopsis affect the child in any way?

Children with strabismus cannot see simultaneously with both eyes, i.e., one eye is at rest while the other is looking, so the visual information obtained by both eyes cannot be processed by the visual center of the brain at the same time, and there is a lack of three-dimensional spatial distance, depth and stereo vision, which is called “stereo blindness”. According to foreign data, the incidence of stereoscopic blindness is 2.6%. Stereo-blind people are unable to perform many jobs, such as pilots, locomotive drivers, operating modern machinery, creating and monitoring precision instruments, medical work, painters, designers, and sports. This is because when a person with stereopsis is engaged in these jobs, not only does it seriously affect efficiency, but it is also extremely unsafe and prone to various accidents. In addition to strabismus, amblyopia, refractive error and low vision in one eye can also cause stereopsis, and the occupations and jobs of these patients should be strictly limited.
