Can hypothyroidism be prevented?

  It was found that there is a significant relationship between iodine intake and the occurrence of hypothyroidism.  Maintaining iodine intake in the safe range of 100-200 μg/L urinary iodine is a basic measure to prevent and treat hypothyroidism. This is especially important for susceptible people with family history.  WHO recommended daily iodine intake: 1. Under 6 years old: 90ug. 2. 6-12 years old: 120. 3. Adults: 150ug. 4. Pregnant women and lactating mothers: 200-250ug.
