To further meet the needs of deaf patients, the Shanghai Disabled Persons’ Federation has recently launched a major initiative. Any severely deaf patient over 18 years old with Shanghai household registration who receives cochlear implant treatment can enjoy a financial subsidy of 60,000 RMB. This means that patients who receive a domestically produced Norcon product implant will only need to pay 20-30,000 RMB out of their own pocket (including the cost of hospitalization). Compared with wearing hearing aids, the cost is similar, but the difference in hearing function improvement is obvious, and the quality of life can be significantly improved.
