Summer is a high season for tick bites, and many people do not feel the tick bite until it grows very large. Soft ticks are predominant in the Zhejiang area, with softer bodies and no mass plates. Ticks not only suck blood to damage the skin, but also act as intermediate hosts, spreading various pathogens. Ticks carrying Borrelia spirochetes cause Lyme disease, and ticks carrying rickettsia cause decreased platelets and spotted fever. Toxins from the tick itself can cause tick paralysis. Pathogenesis: Ticks are ectoparasites of humans, domestic animals, and wildlife, and can suck blood from either larvae, juveniles, or adults. When sucking blood, ticks pierce both the stinging limb and the suboral plate into the host’s skin, and the mouthparts can be firmly fixed in the host’s skin and do not leave when startled; if forcibly removed, the head is easily broken off in the skin. The mouthparts also inject toxins into the body at the same time as they suck blood. Clinical manifestations: The clinical symptoms of tick bites vary greatly in severity and sometimes are indistinguishable from other insect bites, and the insect body must be found on the body surface to confirm the diagnosis. Initial bite does not feel itching, pain; 24-48 hours after the bite local inflammatory reaction of varying degrees, visible insect body mouthparts firmly fixed in the skin; a little time can appear hard nodules, scratched to form ulcers, nodules can last for months or even 1-2 years without healing; individual will cause tick bite fever or even tick paralysis. Treatment: available ether, turpentine, dry tobacco oil coated in the head of the tick or tick next to the point of mosquito incense can loosen the mouth on its own, or Vaseline coated tick head, so that it suffocates, and then gently pull out; remove the tick after wound disinfection, such as the discovery of tick mouthpiece broken in the skin to be surgically removed; around the wound with 2% lidocaine hydrochloride local seal, can accelerate wound healing; the appearance of systemic symptoms of poisoning should be immediately given antihistamines or sugar Corticosteroids. Prevention: Eliminate ticks on the body surface of domestic animals by hand or insecticide, keep housing ventilated and dry, wear long sleeves when in the field, tie a towel around the neck, and apply butyl phthalate emulsion to prevent tick bites.
