Do hamster bites need vaccinations?

Hamster bites usually require a rabies vaccine. Hamsters are a type of rodent that can carry a variety of bacteria and viruses such as epidemic hemorrhagic fever, rat bite fever, typhus, tetanus, and leptospirosis. The bite site is mostly on the right toe, right thumb, index finger and middle finger. The area of rat bites is small, with mostly 1-2 deep wounds and very few scratches. After being bitten and bleeding locally, the wound should first be treated promptly by squeezing out the blood in the wound, which can be thoroughly rinsed under running water and soapy water alternately, and then using iodophor or 75% alcohol to disinfect the wound. If the wound is more serious, tetanus vaccine should be injected if necessary. Normally, the living environment should be kept hygienic and tidy, and contact with rodents should be minimized. If abnormal fever or other uncomfortable symptoms occur during the recovery period, you should go to the infection department of the hospital in time for consultation and treatment.
