How long does it take to remove warts with Imiquimod cream

  Imiquimod cream usually removes warts in about 8-12 weeks, as early as 2-4 weeks, and usually in no more than 16 weeks.  Warts are superfluous skin surface organisms caused by human papilloma virus, commonly seen in children and young adults, and most patients are able to subside on their own within 1-2 years of onset. The treatment of warts is based on topical antiviral medication, and surgical removal can be considered for huge warts. Imiquimod cream is an immunomodulatory agent used to treat external genital and perianal warts in adults. It is recommended to apply it to the affected area three times a week and avoid local skin contact with water or bathing for 6-10 hours after application. In addition, the cream should be used continuously until the warts are completely cleared, and should be discontinued for observation if there is any discomfort. It is also recommended to take antiviral medication under medical supervision to help speed up the removal of warts.  Imiquimod cream is a topical medication and should be used to avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nose and other mucous membranes.
