Map tongue is one of the most common tongue symptoms in young children, between the ages of three and five. Young children with map tongue usually show symptoms such as not eating, poor digestion, yellowing, night crying, night sweating and constipation. The color and thickness of the tongue reflect the strength of the external evil and the severity of the disease, and the presence or absence of the tongue indicates the strength or weakness of the stomach. The basic theory of Chinese medicine says that “the spleen and stomach are the essence of the innate nature”, and the presence or absence of tongue moss is a reflection of one’s body’s positive qi. If a child has a map tongue, it is often related to the function of the spleen and stomach, and attention should be paid to the child’s diet. Children’s spleen and stomach function is weak, should eat some easy to digest food, help the spleen and stomach function recovery, regulate the spleen and stomach, the tongue will be back to normal. From the perspective of Western medicine, map tongue is mostly related to tongue inflammation and vitamin and trace element deficiency. For map tongue caused by tongue inflammation, inflammation should be controlled and attention should be paid to clean oral hygiene; for children who are deficient in vitamins and trace elements, attention should be paid to the preparation of diet, eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, and foods rich in protein, such as fish, meat, eggs, milk, etc. Children with weak spleen and stomach should pay attention to dietary feeding, observe the physiological changes of children, and adjust their diet in a timely manner.
