How long does it take for a torn ligament to heal

How long it takes for a ligament tear to heal is related to the severity of the patient’s condition, physical fitness and other factors, and cannot be generalized. If a ligament tear is suspected, a local MRI can be performed to determine the extent and degree of ligament damage. If the ligament is mildly torn, recovery is usually possible in 3-4 weeks. If the ligament is more severely torn or completely ruptured, it usually takes about 2 months to recover. In some cases, a complete rupture can have serious consequences, such as a cruciate ligament rupture in the knee, which can cause instability in the knee joint, in which case arthroscopic reconstruction needs to be considered and the patient’s recovery time will be longer, even more than 3 months. Patients with ligament tears need temporary local braking to avoid local activities and force to reduce repeated ligament tears and injuries, and can use drugs to activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis.
