Dizziness at any time may be due to otoliths or transient ischemic attack. In transient ischemic attack, the duration of symptoms varies from 10-15 minutes and rarely exceeds one hour. Dizziness can be accompanied by impaired balance and ataxia, which mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people with acute onset. If the patient is suffering from otoliths, the duration of dizziness varies from a few seconds to several minutes. Most of the episodes of dizziness are related to changes in position, mainly due to the otolith detaching from the semicircular canal, and the patient is treated mainly by repositioning. If the dizziness is severe, symptomatic pain management can also be administered at the same time.
