Hemorrhoids are an unspeakable problem for many of us modern people, so there is also the so-called “nine hemorrhoids for ten men” and “ten hemorrhoids for ten women”, because chronic constipation, alcohol consumption, spicy diet, pregnancy and other factors can easily trigger hemorrhoids. There are usually two types of hemorrhoids, one is blood in the stool, which is accompanied by bright red blood, serious patients will say “I saw blood in the whole toilet”, very scared. The other type is prolapse, which is a feeling of “a piece of flesh falling out” from the anus after a bowel movement or exertion, and can be retracted by itself after a while in mild cases, but fall out again during the next bowel movement or exertion. It is very painful and makes people restless. In order to solve this problem, patients often use “hemorrhoid cream”, “hemorrhoid suppositories”, or add oral medication, but often a little effect for a few days, but it does not take long to maintain the same old, or even not effective at all. This is the time to consider surgical treatment, but when patients hear about hemorrhoid surgery, they often associate it with “pain” and “long wounds for a long time”, and in the clinic I also hear patients say “doctor, I’m afraid of surgery, last time I The last time a relative/friend of mine had surgery in a Chinese hospital, he was hospitalized for more than a week, and the pain lasted for more than half a month. So, is there a better way to reduce pain and shorten the hospital stay? Of course there is! The PPH procedure (anastomotic supraclavicular hemorrhoidectomy) that we perform now is a minimally invasive treatment that is less painful and has a shorter hospital stay (basically, you can be discharged the day after the procedure). The procedure was invented by Italian doctor Longo and was performed in China at the beginning of this century. It has been well received by a large number of patients in China because of its advantages such as light pain and quick discharge after surgery. The principle of the procedure is not to ligate or remove internal or external hemorrhoids as in traditional surgery, but to use a special disposable surgical instrument (i.e., anastomosis) to remove a circle of rectal tissue above the hemorrhoid (the nerve innervating this area is a visceral nerve, so it is not as painful as traditional surgery), so that the prolapsed anal cushion can be suspended and moved upward, solving the symptoms of prolapse, and at the same time cutting off the end branches of blood vessels in the rectum. The procedure also cuts off the terminal branch of the blood vessel in the rectum, which can be used to cut off the flow of blood in the stool caused by internal hemorrhoids. On the day of surgery, we observe the patient in the hospital for one day, and basically you can be discharged the next day. We perform hundreds of cases of this procedure every year and have obtained very good results.
