Basic knowledge of chondrosarcoma

Chondrosarcoma is a malignant tumor. Chondrosarcoma is basically insensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which means that chemotherapy and radiotherapy are not the best treatment for chondrosarcoma. Of course, there are exceptions, such as mesenchymal or poorly differentiated chondrosarcoma, which can be treated with chemotherapy. Chondrosarcoma mainly relies on resection. Grade 1 chondrosarcoma is less malignant, so the tumor can be scraped and removed. However, chondrosarcoma of grade 2 or higher is more malignant, so it must be enlarged and removed. The prognosis of chondrosarcoma is relatively poor if it occurs in the pelvis, spine, shoulder joint, etc., which are close to the central axis of the body, and it is more likely to recur. Moreover, chondrosarcoma has a characteristic that the pathological malignancy may escalate after recurrence of chondrosarcoma near the pelvis and other mid-axis.
