How is otosclerosis treated?

Early to mid-stage otosclerosis surgery is very effective, and there are technical methods for late stage otosclerosis, so don’t be blindly pessimistic when diagnosed with otosclerosis and make an appointment for surgery as soon as possible. What is otosclerosis: Most of the human ear is made up of bones, of which the bony tissue that surrounds the inner ear is called the otocyst. The diagnosis of otosclerosis is very limited, so the patient has no reaction other than ear symptoms (hearing loss and in some cases tinnitus), and the doctor often gives the diagnosis of “conductive deafness (tending to be otosclerosis)” at the initial consultation. Therefore, a definitive diagnosis is only obtained after the first surgery. Once the diagnosis has been made, the patient will need to monitor the hearing in the other ear and explain the condition to his or her immediate family so that they are aware that they may have a similar condition and can seek medical attention. When to have surgery: Early to mid-stage surgery is very effective, and most patients can get near normal hearing (air-bone conduction difference closure). What kind of surgery should be performed: At present, we mostly use “CO2 laser stirrup plate opening and artificial stirrup implantation”. Do you still need hearing aids after surgery: Hearing aids are not needed after early to mid-stage surgery.
