Tingling sensation when touching skin is not a precursor of cancer. It is mostly seen in skin diseases and requires prompt consultation with dermatology. The tingling sensation when touching the skin may be physiological tingling. There are more superficial nerves in the skin and tingling sensation will occur locally when stimulated. In addition, if facial skin tingling occurs after using cosmetics, it is caused by skin allergy. Dermatodynia can also present with generalized skin tingling, which is caused by overly sensitive peripheral nerves in the skin. In addition, herpes zoster may also cause a tingling sensation in the skin first, followed by the gradual appearance of blisters. In contrast, early stage of skin cancer only shows symptoms of mild skin lesions, such as erythema and papules, while more serious cases mainly consist of ulcers and abscesses repeatedly breaking down, which usually do not lead to tingling sensation. It is suggested that patients should go to dermatology department for corresponding examination and targeted treatment after clear diagnosis.
