Precautions after hip arthroplasty

  1. Rehabilitation exercises 1. Muscle strength exercises for the affected limbs: resistance exercises for quadriceps, gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and N cord muscles. The movements are: resistance leg lift, knee flexion, hip flexion, knee extension, hip extension and mild abduction of the lower limb.  2.Joint mobility exercises: the affected limb can actively move, practice hip flexion and extension 0 degrees-90 degrees, mild external rotation exercises.  3.Walking exercises with crutches: gradually increase the weight of the affected limb without complete weight-bearing, until 2 months after surgery with complete weight-bearing. You can practice with a single crutch until there is no pain and no limp before abandoning the crutch. When seating, keep the affected limb in a neutral and mildly outward position. Do not cross your legs, do not sit cross-legged, and avoid extreme hip flexion when wearing shoes and socks. You can use a long-handled dresser to avoid standing and sitting when the affected hip is internally rotated and internally retracted.  3.Walking: walk with crutches until there is no pain and no limp, abandon the crutches, it is recommended to use canes and crutches when walking long distances, do not walk on smooth and uneven surfaces. Avoid heavy physical activities in daily life, avoid running, jumping and other items that require a wide range of strenuous movements of the hip joint to reduce the occurrence of postoperative joint dislocation, subluxation fracture and prosthesis elevation.  4.Toilet: sit in a high position, use the handrail and other help when switching between standing and sitting, do not bend the hip, knee and foot.  5.Bathing: Be careful not to slip and fall, and clean the lower limbs with the help of a long-handled bath brush.  6, usually avoid and control various infections.  7.Come to the clinic at any time if there is any situation with the affected hip.
