Pregnancy with anterior uterine position

The anterior position of the uterus in pregnancy is a type of uterine position when the cervix is pointing downward toward the posterior vaginal fornix, which is a normal type of uterus and has essentially no effect on pregnancy. Whether before or after pregnancy, most women’s uterus may change with body position, so the position of the uterus is not fixed. Under normal circumstances, the position of the uterus includes anterior uterine position, horizontal uterine position, and posterior uterine position. The normal position of the anterior uterus is inverted pear-shaped, forward leaning and forward flexed position, with the gradual increase of the pregnancy week, the uterus will also gradually become larger, the position will be relatively fixed, in addition, the anterior uterine ectropion will be more obvious. However, there is a small percentage of people who will develop placenta praevia due to anterior position of the uterus, which is usually found after 28 weeks of pregnancy when the placenta is attached to the lower part of the uterus and its lower edge is adjacent to or covers the inner cervical opening. This may lead to complications for both the fetus and the mother and therefore requires aggressive care and, if necessary, a cesarean section to end the pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to go to the hospital for pregnancy tests in a timely manner, in addition to determining whether the pregnancy is intrauterine and the size of the gestational sac, and whether the fetal heartbeat and germ can be detected. If all the data are normal, the fetus is developing normally and there is no need to worry too much about the position of the uterus.
