Children’s sebaceous nevus removed need to do pathological examination.
Sebaceous nevus in children, also known as congenital sebaceous gland hyperplasia, is a kind of developmental abnormality disease with sebaceous gland hyperplasia as the main cause. 10%~40% of patients can be complicated with other skin tumors on the basis of this disease, such as basal cell epithelioma, sweat duct tumor, and so on. The disease can be treated by laser, electrocautery or surgical excision, and the specimens after surgical excision need to be routinely pathologically examined.
Pathological examination can confirm whether sebaceous nevus has malignant tissue or whether it is complicated with other skin tumors, and the pathological examination results have important reference value for follow-up and treatment.
Children who experience discomfort or abnormal pathologic examination after sebaceous nevus excision should go to the hospital in time for regular treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
