Do I still need vaccination if I have HPV infection?

Although studies have proven that the vaccine is safe for patients already infected with HPV, it needs to be clear that vaccination does not cure HPV infection and only has the ability to fight the virus if it is administered before they have had sex. Recent studies have found that Cervarix does not help clear the infection in patients who are already infected with HPV. However, since few patients are infected with all the virus types associated with the vaccine, it may be of some benefit if the vaccination is administered for subsequent infections.
