The opening of the uterus to the first finger is only an omen before the birth, there is no definite time for the birth, the exact time varies from case to case. The length of labor is determined by a combination of four factors: labor force, birth canal, fetus and maternal spirit. If all four factors are normal, it usually takes about 11-12 hours for first-time mothers and about 6 hours for women in labor. The duration of labor may be prolonged or shortened when there are special circumstances, such as weak contractions, large fetus, slow fetal descent, fetal malposition, poor cervical conditions, etc., which may lead to delayed labor, and shortened labor in cases of emergency delivery. The duration of labor is different for primiparous women and menstruating women, as the opening of the uterus is faster in menstruating women than in primiparous women, resulting in a shorter labor. It is recommended that women should get enough sleep, enhance nutrition, ensure sufficient physical strength and not be overly fearful of childbirth while waiting for delivery.
