Chronic obstructive parotitis

It often occurs in middle age and is mostly unilateral. The parotid gland is repeatedly swollen and the swelling is not related to eating. There is a slight pain during the attack and sometimes the parotid gland feels swollen in the morning, with salty fluid coming out after massage. On examination, the parotid gland is slightly enlarged, moderately hard and slightly painful. The mouth of the duct is slightly red and swollen, and squeezing the gland reveals a cloudy snowflake-like or viscous egg-white like fluid overflowing from the mouth of the duct. Treatment: The main focus is to remove the cause of the disease. Remove stones; inject medicine into the duct; massage the gland to discharge saliva, rinse and brush teeth to maintain oral hygiene; contain vitamin C tablets to promote saliva secretion. If the above treatment is not effective, surgical treatment is available.
