Does summer surgery increase the risk of infection?

Here is a little clarification about the timing of the surgery. It is important to note that there are concerns about increased incidence of infection due to wound contamination when surgery is performed in hot weather because of increased sweating, but so far there is no medical evidence to support this. It is true that summer is the peak time for myopia surgery, but this is due to the fact that most of the people who require myopia removal are young people, especially students. They often have time during the summer and winter. If the sterilization is strict, there should be no problem. The ophthalmology department of the People’s Hospital performs 3000 cataract surgeries each year, and many of them are done in summer. Patients who need surgery don’t have to worry too much about the weather. There are many factors that influence infection, but as long as adequate disinfection is done, the incidence is generally very low.
