What are the causes of prolonged menstrual periods after cesarean delivery – diverticula?

The incidence of prolonged menstrual periods is increasing as the rate of cesarean delivery rises. After years of observation and research, it has been found that this is partly due to a defect caused by a poorly healed cesarean incision scar, which is medically known as a “diverticulum”. Of course, the presence of diverticula does not necessarily result in prolonged menstrual periods. Prolonged menstrual periods cannot be controlled with medication, and in the past many patients had no way to seek medical help because many doctors did not know that surgery was the only way to solve the problem. As doctors become more aware of this phenomenon, more and more patients are being treated appropriately.
