Precautions after hip replacement surgery

Dear patient, when you have received an artificial hip joint replacement, you have a joint that allows you to move freely again. Modern artificial joints are wear-resistant, durable and do not rejection into the body. When you have fully recovered, you can do sports activities: walking, gardening, cycling, bowling, table tennis, swimming, dancing, but you need to avoid activities that put excessive pressure on the new hip joint and cause wear and tear, such as jumping, running fast, tennis, etc. Special considerations: The range of motion of the new joint is limited. Special attention should be paid to avoid joint dislocation, including the following points: 1. Avoid crossing the legs and knees when sitting, standing or lying down. 2. Keep the feet 6 inches apart in the seated position. 3. Keep both knees below hip level when sitting. Avoid sitting in a chair that is too short. You can sit with pillow cushion to keep both knees below hip level. 4.Rise from a sitting position by sliding toward the edge of the chair and then stand up with a walking frame or crutches for support. 5.Avoid bending movements. Consider purchasing long-handled shoe paddles or soft shoes so that you can put on and take off shoes and socks without bending over. 6.When lying down (especially when sleeping on the side), put a pillow cushion between the legs to keep the joints in the proper position. 7.It is necessary to raise the toilet seat so that the knees remain below the hip when using the toilet.
