How to treat a concentrated enterobacteria infection

Treatment of acute Enterobacteriaceae infections from various causes starts with removing the source of infection and applying effective antimicrobials as early as possible. Since the susceptibility of various antimicrobial drugs varies considerably among different strains, the selection of antimicrobial drugs should be based on the results of drug susceptibility tests as much as possible. In general, drugs of quinolones, β-lactams and aminoglycosides have better antibacterial activity against bacteria. For mild or moderate infections, drugs such as piperacillin, ceftazidime, ciprofloxacin, and amikacin can be used. For severe infections or sepsis, ceftazidime, cefoperazone, imipenem, and beta-lactamase inhibitors should be used in combination with ciprofloxacin or aminoglycosides for combined antibacterial therapy.
